- Purpose: This procedure describes the stages at which
inspections and tests of the product are carried out to ensure its conformance
to the application purpose specification.
- Scope: This procedure applies to all products with
the exception of those listed in the Schedule (EXH-2D) to Procedure
QP-PRO02.
- Procedure With the benefit of PT, XT, ET, UT, HT,
HPT, PGT, LT, ST, (see definitions pt1-pg25) the company controls its
processes, see work instructions to be found in this manual pt3.
- In-process Inspection
- The Materials Controller examines manufactured
components before they are incorporated into final assemblies.
See EXH 17-B, 17-C 2pages.
- He checks dimensions, surface finish (either
visually or by Electro-formed Surface Roughness Comparison Standard)
and any other criteria as specified on the PREVENTOR or component
Drawing.
- If he finds nonconforming parts, he withdraws
them from production to the quarantine area, and informs the
Chief Engineer, by means of a CAR (Procedure 20), in order that
appropriate action may be taken.
- If the parts conform to requirements, the
Materials Controller authorizes their incorporation into the
assembly and verifies his inspection on the Inspection Certificate
(see Exhibit EXH-17A).
Pressure Testing
Pressure testing is carried out by operators of all final
products in accordance with ASME VIII UG 99, UG 100, & UG 101, these
are conducted by use of the test rig with chart recorder (up to 10,000psi)
, or as specifies by contract.
Numerous proven used instructions are available for the
client to choose from. These are kept in H:\-\rpw\q\Prestest .The
work order states in the "construction and certification" section, whether
any of these are to apply in place of or in addition to those specific requirements
of ASME for unfired pressure vessels (above) .
Should any vessel or pipe fail to maintain pressure by
leakage the test item is set aside, clearly marked (by means of a large
"X" on it in yellow marker) as nonconforming where necessary, and the Chief
Engineer is informed, again by means of a CAR, in order that appropriate
action may be taken (Pro 20).
